Settling back in,... a Flight School Reflection

It's been almost two months since I've returned from flight school.  I miss the friends I made while I was at Fort Rucker but I can't say I miss Alabama.  It's hard to imagine that the dream of going to flight school and becoming a pilot in the Texas Army National Guard is pretty much complete.  I have already begun RL (readiness level) progression with my National Guard unit.  Flying back with my unit in Texas is so much more fun than flight school… On top of that, I'm learning so much more as well.  I fly with different instructor pilots all the time and the vast experience they have to share is impressive.  Although I achieved everything I set out to achieve with becoming an Army Aviator coming home has had it's own set of challenges.  The break-up with my fiance combined with the death of my Grandfather has been hard to handle.    I'm grateful for the opportunity to step back into my role at JP Morgan Chase as a business banker.  Things in banking have changed a lot but not so much that I haven't been able to pick back up where I left off.  So for now, it's back to the daily grind at the bank and working on becoming a better pilot in the evenings and after work. The possibility of a deployment looms overhead and I just hope I get the chance to become a better pilot before that happens.
