I am without words right now. PT test next Tuesday, Graduation in 2 weeks and flight school will officially be over. I really don't know what to say,… I was thinking about it all when I saw my buddy Tom Von post something on FB. He and my other buddy Jay seemed to have summed it up better than I could have. So here is it:
"Flight school is easy. All you have to do are these 3 things: be at the right place, at the right time, in the right uniform, with a good attitude, holding a "d.r.i.v.e. m.e. h.o.m.e. c.a.r.d.", with a current blue book, wearing your dog tags awkwardly in and around your neck area, knowing your 5's and 9's, and you might want to brush through chapter 2, 4, 8, 95-1 ch. 5, .240, the FAR's AND the AIM's and the rest of your box of books, have a good working knowledge of the helicopter you might not have ever seen in real life, you should basically be able to perform surgery on any given pilot as well as be able to diagnose any medical symptoms they might be experiencing and be able to prescribe an over the counter flight approved solution, with an accurate ppc, know at least 731 new acronyms by tomorrow, be able to quote and apply what you learned in "the art of war" that you should have read if you were any kind of astute officer while you were on hold, with your boots bloused any time you come off the flight line and cross that imaginary line that is not really defined, with your collar popped as required, gloves tucked as necessary, visor down as applicable, and any other reasonable requirement we might throw your way... don't forget to go to bed by 7pm because you're going to need a full 8 hours of rest to make it through this nightmare!
Don't forget to workout and be ready for a test in your physical abilities at a predetermined date that you will not know but should have guessed. Have all 413 required items with you at all times and be able to account for no less than 3 battle buddies and their 3 battle buddies… PS: that was a little more than 3 things but that's not important, lean forward soldier!!!"
